From 1 December 2012, Stage 1 water restrictions will be lifted and permanent water use rules will remain in place.
Here’s a summary of what that means for households.
What permanent water use rules mean
Residential and commercial gardens and lawns | |

Hand watering | Gardens and lawns can be watered at any time, on any day using a hand held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle. |
Watering systems | Watering systems (manual, automatic, spray or dripper) can be used to water gardens and lawns from 6pm to 10am, on any day |

At home | Cars may be washed at home with the following methods at any time, on any day:

Water Outlook
Each year, Melbourne Water and the water retailers collaborate to produce a snapshot of water supply and demand in Melbourne for the coming 12 months called Water Outlook. Published by 1 December each year, Water Outlook includes information on water storages, water use and information about forecasted weather patterns and rainfall.
